I used to be a focus puller from2002- 2009 then moved to Tv but couldn't stop my love and ambitions for film and commercial industry as I really feel this is the real art so was wondering if I can do some shadowing or how to go back to the track I love any help will be really appreciated and big thanks to the quick reply who encouraged me to say that in the forum, I am in London and happy to drive anywhere .

Thanks for taking time yo read this.

Hi there.

I have had the exact situation with you. The thing is the fundamentals never change. Moreover, you have many tools in your arsenal for you to pull focus. There will be times, you will use your knowledge of the distance of arms lenght, 3m, 10 m in your memory or actors leaning in where there maybe a strong backlight and you may not use peaking or you may not have time to measure. You need your laser meter, normal meter with you.

Moreover, you have peaking, focus assist, black white tool, some even use waveform to judge focus. If you get any kind of focus assist tool, that will be a plus.

You may need at least 1 year to get your groove back. I suggest to start with low budget, music video gigs to warm up.

Good luck and keep us updated

Regards
